I am loving the New Ghostbusters!
Speaking of NES games with licensed music, here’s a track from the OTHER Ghostbusters II game, by Activision. The Statue of Liberty level includes an 8-bit rendition of “Higher and Higher” and sounds pretty great! Now it’s got me thinking about other old games with licensed music. Anyone have any other favorites?
“Flip City” from New Ghostbusters II for the NES. This music from the second level was an 8-bit version of an actual song from the movie, which was something of a rarity back in the day.
Hey I made a (admittedly pretty bad) little game and posted it up onon my site! It’s Ghost Zappers! Which is totally different from Ghostbusters I’m sure. You can move the proton gun left and right with the A and D keys, and you use the mouse to aim the gun, holding the left button to fire a proton stream. After holding the stream on a ghost for a second, it will be zapped. You also have 3 ghost bombs, which you can use with the W key, taking out all ghosts on the screen. Rinse and repeat until you’re out of lives.

It’s been a long time coming, but here’s the third episode of Let’s Go Retro! Today I’m looking at Ghostbusters 2 on the PC.
I was 9 in when I saw this in the theater. This scene, when the echo calls out to Winston, scared the hell out of me. Also, right after this when they become surrounded by severed heads. Scary! Happy Halloween.
Promo for the Real Ghostbusters cartoon. Some notable difference from final cartoon include their movie like tan jumpsuits, Peter Venkman’s different look, and Slimer still playing the part of the bad guy. Love that show!
